It’s been a hotbed of activity here at Princi this week…and it’s only Wednesday! We kicked the week off with a visit from the lovely Niki of Luxury Jones fame (along with her little pup Carlos)…she dropped off more boots (yay!!) and a bevy of new styles she’d been working on just for us! Then we all fell madly in love with Bosley, Cari’s adorable mini poodle. Then there were all the shipments! Off-the-charts sexy Sophia Loren-esque body-hugging dresses from Ticci Tonetto, Jen’s Pirate Booty bags (I’d like one of each please), some insane Mikal Winn one-of-kind cuffs, intoxicating new scents from Ebba’s new Boho Collection, and the sold-out Otis & Maclain aztec print skirt is now back in stock! So basically we’re just bracing ourselves for a crazy (fun) weekend…you’ve got to love summer in Venice :)

The Venice Garden Tour is tomorrow, and if you’ve never been, we think you should go! Although it’s always in Venice, the neighborhoods change each year, so each tour promises new adventures and discoveries. And since it’s Venice, you can count on a wonderful mix of beauty, strangeness, and eccentricities while you meander through private homes and gardens. And of course we think you should stop by Principessa first and get a hat…tomorrow’s forecast calls for sunny skies and not a chance of rain. Enjoy :)

If you find yourself making the journey to Paso Robles (and you should), you need to make a stop at Thomas Hill Organics. We recently had a wonderful lunch at this market-bistro/wine bar with some good friends (and a great dog named Stella). All the food is locally & organically grown, the wine selection hails mostly from the central coast, and the outdoor patio is the perfect setting for the kind of lunch that turns into dinner…loved it.
We’re so diggin’ all the sexy new spring styles from Citizens of Humanity at Princi right now, and like everyone else we’re especially obsessed with the floral prints! The cropped jeans are crazy cute and the shorts are off the charts!! Get a jump start on that spring wardrobe and grab a pair while they’re still around :)

When Niki Dimitras (the clever mastermind behind Luxury Jones) drops off new boots, we revert to kids-in-a-candy-store around here. Each pair has a personality all it’s own, made from vintage western boots and adorned with vintage belts, scarves, and various other treasures. In the “not-just-because-he’s-my-boyfriend” category, talented local artist Gregory Beauchamp is really making a name for himself these days. Featured in the ‘sneak peek’ section of Design*Sponge yesterday, Gregory’s home is a true example of Venice living…half the treasures were found at local flea markets and alleyways! And his beautiful art is a reflection of his home…simple, thoughtful, inspirational and best of all, affordable! His work has been published in several books and magazines and he’s been featured on countless design blogs…thought it was high time I gave my man a little shout out of my own :)

Local designer Naomi Strauss (an avid surfer and absolute sweetheart) is an angel in my book…she’s created my dream bag line. The perfect blend of boho & preppy, these bags are made of reclaimed army canvas and deadstock materials. They remind me of the perfectly aged LL Bean totes I grew up with back East, but with enough edge to give them a little street cred. The overnight bags are perfect for a weekend getaway and the italian tote has two side compartments for wine (at least that’s how I see it)…genius.

For months now, the Abbot Kinney crowd has been buzzing about the new pop-up restaurant in the Capri space called Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing…and now we know why. D & S stopped in last night and delighted in the kale salad with black apples & dates and the lamb sirloin with toasted barley & horseradish gremolata. And the staff? Super friendly. The vibe? Warm & cozy. So it seems when the chefs from Axe, Hungry Cat and Joe’s team up, the results are bound to be as amazing as you’d think…I’m sold.
