A super talented artist friend of ours, Susan Carter Hall, was in Marfa recently getting inspired, making art, and meeting fellow artists. One such fast friend was Kalen, half of the Brooklyn based design duo Upstate. Kalen Kaminski and Astrid Chastka make one of a kind wares using their interpretation of shibori, a Japanese tradition of dying fabric. Susan recommended we check them out. And we did. And we fell in love. And you’ll see their beautiful pieces in Principessa this fall…we’ll keep you posted when it hits the sales floor!
P.S. I heard while Kalen was in Marfa she was working on a one-of-a-kind quilt made from Upstate fabric scraps…where do we get one of those???
