Halloween is upon us! And since it’s one of our favorite holidays, you know we have to throw a party…

Please make sure to join us Saturday October 25th for a very-Principessa-Halloween-party with one of our favorite (and sexiest) designers, Leticia Loza. She’ll be purveying her incredible sorceress inspired webbed dresses just in time for your Halloween costume perusing… and if that wasn’t enough, the babes behind LIVINLARGE PHOTO will be changing out our mural, one Goddess for another… Read on to meet the designer & see what we have in store for you…

On location: Abbot Kinney Blvd. Venice, CA

We’re back! Our website is alive & kicking and better than ever….and growing every day! Of course this means constant photo shoots…and what better location than Abbot Kinney? Our neighborhood is a huge part of who we are…we’ve been on this street for over a decade and have watched in total amazement as it’s evolved into one of the most talked-about streets in the world! We’ve loved our hood since day one…and in an effort to honor and celebrate our eclectic, magical, bohemian beach town, we do all of our web shoots on and around Abbot Kinney. The crowds, the cars, the construction, the alleys, the graffiti…we love it all & we use it all. Makes for the perfect backdrop if you ask us! Come visit the shop the next time you’re in Venice, or check us out at xx

Principessa & Livinlarge…The making of an incredible mural.

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of working with the amazing crew from Livinlargephoto (street artists Jill Sutherland, Anne Staveley & friends) on a custom designed mural for our store front…and we couldn’t be happier with the results! She is stunning!! Next time you’re in Venice, come by and check her out in person…

this week at Princi…

It’s been a hotbed of activity here at Princi this week…and it’s only Wednesday!  We kicked the week off with a visit from the lovely Niki of Luxury Jones fame (along with her little pup Carlos)…she dropped off more boots (yay!!) and a bevy of new styles she’d been working on just for us!  Then we all fell madly in love with Bosley, Cari’s adorable mini poodle.  Then there were all the shipments!  Off-the-charts sexy Sophia Loren-esque body-hugging dresses from Ticci Tonetto, Jen’s Pirate Booty bags (I’d like one of each please), some insane Mikal Winn one-of-kind cuffs, intoxicating new scents from Ebba’s new Boho Collection, and the sold-out Otis & Maclain aztec print skirt is now back in stock!  So basically we’re just bracing ourselves for a crazy (fun) weekend…you’ve got to love summer in Venice :)

Sartorialist Surfing

I’m always so inspired by street fashion…the way everyday girls interpret the trends (or buck them all together) and put their own unique spin on them.  In my opinion, the best site for this real-life fashion voyeurism is still The Sartorialist. If you don’t already have it bookmarked, you should!  The photography is beautiful, the peeps are relatable (for the most part) and you can’t help but get inspired by these women (and men) of all ages and the creative ways they make a statement.

Twysted Thystle

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for great packaging…and these teas are a perfect example.  I came across Twysted Thystle while browsing Etsy and instantly fell in love with these teas!  Each label is hand-drawn by their illustrator Heather and depicts all the herbs that are in that particlar tea…love that.  The company is totally green, and totally run by women…mothers, sisters, and daughters.  They also boast a Certified Aromatherapist, Deb Garnett, who has been studying herbs for health and healing for over 15 years, so you can be assured these teas will deliver.  While they’re based in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains, the teas are available to everyone via their Etsy shop here.

Princi Quick Pic: Feeling Tribal

Something about the summer months just makes me want to layer it on…jewelry, that is.  Definitely for those in the “more is more” camp, I just love the way layers of vintage jewels pair with a simple tee or flowy maxi dress. Rings, bangles, necklaces…the more the merrier…so stop by Principessa and get that collection started! xo

A Short Story

Nothing says ‘summer’s here’ better than adding your favorite pair of denim shorts back into rotation.  The perfect accompaniment to just about any top you can think of, a great pair of denim shorts can be the foundation of a casual summer wardrobe (especially when you live by the beach).  This year it seems there are more styles than ever to choose from…classic cut-offs, high waisted, floral prints, hippie patch-work, distressed, destroyed…you name it.  Whatever your flavor, we’re serving it up…and here’s just a few for inspiration :)

Message from a Rodeo Queen

There’s nothing I love more than the story behind a great vintage piece.  Our own Shane H. was rockin’ this belt at work the other day and I have to say I had a serious case of belt envy.  Especially when she told me it belonged to her dad when he was 12!  The story goes that he was working with the rodeo in Tempe, AZ back in ’74 when he was injured and wound up in the hospital.  A visit from the reigning Rodeo Queen quickly lifted his spirits as she gave him well wishes and inscribed the back of his favorite belt…lucky kid, and lucky Shane.

‘Local Love’…new to

We’ve added a new section to our website called ‘Local Love’ where we’ll feature products made exclusively in Venice, CA. It’s a special call-out to all the super talented local designers whose beautiful wares grace our Abbot Kinney boutique and our online store. Watch for many more ‘Local Love’ products coming soon! xx

Citizens of Humanity Spring 2012

We’re so diggin’ all the sexy new spring styles from Citizens of Humanity at Princi right now, and like everyone else we’re especially obsessed with the floral prints! The cropped jeans are crazy cute and the shorts are off the charts!!  Get a jump start on that spring wardrobe and grab a pair while they’re still around :)

This just in…more amazing boots by Luxury Jones at Principessa Venice

When Niki Dimitras (the clever mastermind behind Luxury Jones) drops off new boots, we revert to kids-in-a-candy-store around here.  Each pair has a personality all it’s own, made from vintage western boots and adorned with vintage belts, scarves, and various other treasures.  You know we’re suckers for anything one-of-a-kind here at Principessa, and these Luxury Jones boots fit the bill perfectly.  Genius.  Thanks Niki! xo

Jacquie Aiche Herkimer Diamonds

Ladies, feel free to forward this post to your man ;)
Get a jump start on Valentines Day with Jacquie Aiche’s herkimer diamonds. I love the rawness of these gems (prong set in gold vermeil) and the fact that no two are exactly alike…it’s what makes each piece so special, beautiful, and one of a kind…just like you xo

Principessa Vintage

Absolutely loving this vintage lambskin fringe top (courtesy of Madley)…especially the logo!  It’s the original “Double R”…only in this case it stands for “Range Rider”…what’s not to love about that??  Be sure to stop by the store to check out all the other amazing one-of-a-kind vintage!

Directional Motivation bags at Principessa Venice

Local designer Naomi Strauss (an avid surfer and absolute sweetheart) is an angel in my book…she’s created my dream bag line. The perfect blend of boho & preppy, these bags are made of reclaimed army canvas and deadstock materials. They remind me of the perfectly aged LL Bean totes I grew up with back East, but with enough edge to give them a little street cred. The overnight bags are perfect for a weekend getaway and the italian tote has two side compartments for wine (at least that’s how I see it)…genius.

Chan Luu

New colors available in our best-selling Chan Luu silk & cashmere scarves…with dozens more colors to choose from in the store…and soon on our website too! Sure to become a wardrobe staple, these scarves are light as air, soft as silk, and completely seasonless. From the slopes to the beach, or the plane to the pool, these scarves are pure perfection.

Mikal Winn

Sculptor-artist-jewelry designer Mikal Winn makes magic from his 29 Palms studio in the Mojave Desert. Inspired by the glittering bounty flowing from the treasure chests in the Indiana Jones movies, Mikal hand-crafts every piece to create one-of-a-kind show stopping jewels for the treasure hunter in all of us. Part brutalist, part fairy tale, every piece Mikal creates is sure to add just the right amount of amazing to any outfit.
